U cant chat with people using Gmail...
For hot mail.. while adding the person to the list... type @hotmail.com in the end and select "Windows Live (MSN)" in the small drop down list on the right
How can i chat with users from gmail or hotmail through yahoo mssenger?
It doesn't matter who their email provider is as long as they have yahoo messenger downloaded, you can chat
