as stated above... it's a features issue.
Outlook, and other such programs. via imap. could allow you to download/manage multiple webmail clients all at once. would save time, hassle of going to multiple sites to check your mail if you have multiple accounts.
also, a central contacts list, may help keep track of all the people you email. and while i find gmail's search function better. maybe outlook would be better than yahoo or hotmail etc.
having your email on your local machine...vs hosting it on some webmail service, means you could look at, read, search, or refer back to your "email" even if you don't have a connection to the internet.
might also possibly guard against a company like hotmail or yahoo or whatever going out of business and you loosing your data. etc. although that's doubtful.
with outlook, you could, if you want, share access, or rights to people to look at your email or whatever. if that's something you wanted.
so... again
it's a features thing.
with the features also comes some risk. ie... having a stored copy of your email on your machine means there's a stored copy of your email on your machine. so... if it's work email/personal email conflicts, or email you don't necessarily want "on" your computer... maybe that's an issue security/privacy/paranoia wise.
is there any "reason" to do it... sure. just depends on if it's something that'd help you get things done better or quicker and you're willing to do it.
Is there any reason to use Outlook instead of sign in your email account at yahoo/hotmail/gmail ?
Convenience and additional features like font settings, organization, etc. You can access your email after you go off the internet, as well. But if you're always connected at a desktop, this feature is moot. But functionally? Not really. Outlook is an email client, as is Mac Mail, Eudora, Outlook Express, and a few others out there. They just have additional features and preferences for organizing contacts.
Reply:With Outlook you could have access to your email even withuot an internet connection - in other words you could download your email, then disconnect, then respond to emails and send them next time you are online.
You would also have access to Outlook's Calendar and Contacts features, which you may prefer to those in yahoo/hotmail/gmail.
Reply:Desktop email clients (such as Outlook, Thunderbird and Eudora) work off line, and generally have more features than webmail services.
Reply:I like outlook because it is much quicker to use and navigate around in. The speed of those hotmail and yahoo mail services are very slow at times...

David is correct but there tend to be more attacks on Outlook. Both have pluses and minuses.
